UTTARAKHAND FLOOD : GLAICER BURST

A Flood has occurred  in chamoli,Uttarakhand district after a glacier burst caused an avalanche. The flash floods were caused by a glacier burst in the upper reaches of the Himalayas. Hundreds of troops, paramilitaries and military helicopters have been sent to the region to help with rescue efforts


Uttarakhand police said an avalanche struck at about 11:00 local time (05:30 GMT) on Sunday, destroying a dam known as the Rishiganga Hydroelectric Project.


After two days of flood, more than 200 are missing, 20 bodies have been recovered

People living in near village The Dhauli Ganga, and Alaknanda river have been evacuated from there. 

Rescue teams have been rushed to the spot and Several districts in the state have been placed on high alert. 2 rescue team are in continuous search of people in flood after day two.

Two teams of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and three National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been rushed to the spot. The Air Force and other disaster relief forces are on standby. More than 150 labourers working at the Rishi Ganga power project are missing. 9-10 dead bodies have been recovered from the river, and search operation underwa, SS Deswal, DG, ITBP told ANI.

It is found that People who are missing in the flood are the workers working in RishiGanga Power project.
